The co-founder of Universal Store, Greg Josephson, has reportedly been stabbed to death in his own home in Clayfield, Brisbane, during a house party.
Queensland Police reported the incident on its website a few hours ago, with The Australian reporting that the stabbed 58-year-old was Josephson himself.
Police have since charged a 15-year-old Clayfield boy with murder, under a domestic violence offence.
Emergency services were called to an Oriel Road address around 8:15 pm last night following reports of a man sustaining critical injuries.
“Upon arrival, it will be alleged that officers located the 58-year-old Clayfield man deceased at the property, as well as a large group of teenagers,” Queensland Police reported on its website.
“Officers also located a 15-year-old Clayfield boy nearby and took him into custody.
“It will be alleged the pair were known to each other.”
Following investigations, detectives have since charged the 15-year-old Clayfield boy with one count of murder domestic violence offence.
He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Childrens Court this morning, June 27.
The report by The Australian added that Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman said police allege a household implement was used during an altercation between the man and the teen.
“There was some sort of altercation that’s resulted in this 58-year-old male tragically losing his life,” he said.
“It’s not a case of carrying knives, it’s unfortunately allotted in a home.”
Inspector Jane Healy said the 15-year-old indicated to police that he had some involvement and knowledge of something that had happened at the house.
“He is the only person who was aware of what happened,” Inspector Healy said.
Josephson founded Universal Store in 1999 alongside his brother Michael. In 2018, the apparel retailer was acquired by a group of private equity investors. In 2020, the business went public on the ASX.
