Global apparel retailer Uniqlo has commenced extensive renovations of its Emporium Melbourne flagship store, which first opened in 2014.
The store renovations are expected to improve the shopping experience with a refreshed layout and updated in-store features. This includes the introduction of some global in-store offerings that will be available for the first time in an Australian Uniqlo store, details of which will be announced closer to the store re-opening.
“Since landing in Australia in 2014, Uniqlo has been dedicated to providing local customers with our unique LifeWear apparel,” UNIQLO Australia CEO Fuminori Adachi said.
“Following our first store at Emporium, we have opened an incredible 40 stores nation-wide, thanks to great support from Australian customers.
“In 2025, Uniqlo Emporium will be undergoing an extensive upgrade in line with our global store designs and aesthetic.”
Uniqlo Emporium will temporarily close for the renovation from July 6. During the renovation period, customers are encouraged to visit other Uniqlo locations in Melbourne, including the nearby Chadstone store, or shop online.
Emporium Melbourne centre manager Gordon White said he and the teams will help support this next chapter in Uniqlo’s journey in Australia.
“This exciting renovation will reimagine the Uniqlo experience at Emporium Melbourne, aligning perfectly with our vision to deliver a premium, globally inspired retail environment in the heart of the city.”
Uniqlo is a retail subsidiary under Fast Retailing Co., a Japanese holding company headquartered in Tokyo. The retailer is the largest of eight brands under Fast Retailing, with the others being GU, Theory, PLST, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam, J Brand and Helmut Lang.
Total revenue across Fast Retailing hit approximately 3.1 trillion yen for the 2024 fiscal year, which is roughly $33.4 billion in Australian dollars.
