Japanese global apparel retailer Uniqlo has opened its doors at Karrinyup Shopping Centre.
The site marks its third store in Perth and first store opening in Australia for 2020.
Uniqlo Australia COO Kensuke Suwa said the move would provide new jobs, despite the unprecedented time for retail.
“We look forward to becoming a positive part of the local community, providing our range of well designed, high quality every day essentials to those in the area.
Given the current environment, we are also excited to be able to add around 50 new jobs to the Western Australian economy.”
An official ribbon cutting ceremony and Japanese drumming celebration took place at 9am, with local artist Anya Brock creating a live mural opposite the store.
Part of the major $800 million development of Karrinyup Shopping Centre, the site measures at 942 square metres of retail space and will be located in the new Fashion Loop.
Opening celebrations will continue over the weekend with giveaways and competitions for customers.
