Japanese giant Uniqlo is forging ahead with local expansion.
Uniqlo Australia has launched a CBD-based pop-up store in the heart of Sydney, ahead of the launch of the retailer’s very first Sydney store later this year.
The Uniqlo pop-up store, located at Pitt Street Mall, officially opened for business on Saturday May 3. The Sydney pop-up is almost four times the size of the brand’s first pop-up store in Melbourne, which opened in January this year.
The pop-up store is set to run for approximately five months and will sell the Japanese fashion retailer’s LifeWear product offering, showcasing highlights from the brand’s most popular collections.
Some of the most popular items on offer will include: ultra light down vests and jackets, ultra stretch jeans for women, and 100 per cent pure Cashmere in a range of different colours and styles.
Sydney shoppers will also be treated to an exclusive selection of t-shirts from the SPRZ NY range - a global project that fuses art and fashion to produce garments featuring work from influential artists such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michael Basquiat.
Commenting on the launch of the Sydney pop-up, Uniqlo CEO Australia Shoichi Miyasaka said the move is a step in the right direction for the local expansion of the brand.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Uniqlo to the iconic Pitt Street Mall precinct in the heart of Sydney’s fashion district. The Sydney pop-up store is a significant second milestone for our brand – an exciting addition to the local retail landscape bringing high quality, affordable clothing to all Sydney shoppers.”
The Uniqlo Sydney pop-up store follows the recent opening of the first Australian Uniqlo store in Melbourne in April, paving the way for the Japanese retailer’s expansion into Australia and the Asia/Pacific region.
