Former Uniqlo HR manager Melanie Bell has taken the retailer to court.

Bell is suing Uniqlo for at least $1 million in lost wages as well as damages, according to News Ltd reports.

In a statement of claim filed with the Federal Court in Melbourne, Bell cites four cases of bullying by the COO and alleged the CFO held her back from pay increases and career advancement.

“The applicant believes that she was discriminated against because of her caucasian heritage and she was denied career advancement opportunities because of her gender,” court documents state.

Bell left Uniqlo in March, 2018.

Uniqlo has denied the allegations and stated she was not promoted due to her performance.
