Uniqlo is expanding its reach in Australia with the announcement of a new store opening in Melbourne's Eastland Shopping Centre.

The company said that the expansion is all part of its active growth strategy in the region.

The store is set to open later this year, securing a floor area measuring 1,045 square metres.

Eastland will be home to the 7th Uniqlo store in the country, which are all located in Victoria and New South Wales.

At this stage there are no reports as to whether the brand plans to expand to other Australian territories.

Uniqlo currently operates under Japanese retail holding company Fast Retailing Co. Ltd.

Last year the company reported global sales of approximately 1.38 trillion yen ($US 13.3 billion).

It also designs, manufactures and sells for global brands including Helmut Lang, J Brand and Theory.
