Retail executive Ty Symonds is set to step down from the lead role of Country Road’s Home division.

Symonds has held the general manager role of Country Road Home since June 2023 and managed the division’s design direction since January 2020. He is expected to leave the role in January 2026, Country Road confirmed with Ragtrader.

During his time at Country Road, he and his team helped double both sales and profit of the Home division, which led to the brand opening its first-ever Home standalone store.

The store was selected as a finalist in Ragtrader’s inaugural Australian Fashion Industry Awards this year.

Other key wins include launching a new range of scented products, spearheading Country Road Home’s first-ever Indigenous artist collaboration, and championing Australian manufacturing and fibres.

The home division has also reported an 8.9 per cent year-on-year uplift in comparable sales for FY26 year-to-date (October 3, 2025)

"Over his six years with the Country Road Home team, Ty has played a key role in shaping and growing our Home division, from opening our first standalone store to the recent launch of our new Scent range,” Country Road managing director Helen Wright told Ragtrader

“His creative leadership and commitment are greatly valued, and the business is in a strong position to continue building on our thriving Home strategy. We thank Ty for his contribution and wish him every success."

Symonds told Ragtrader this was a big decision for him to make, particularly given all the recent success by him and his team. “Sometimes the best career moves come from trusting your instincts and knowing when to pass the torch and finish strong.”

Country Road has already posted a job advert seeking a new general manager for its home division.

The brand and the Country Road Group have been undergoing significant shifts in recent years, including the separation of its business from David Jones after its parent company, Woolworths Holdings Limited in South Africa, sold the department store to Anchorage Capital Partners in early 2024.

Despite a sales slip across the group for FY25, and a group full-year loss, WHL had noted that both Country Road and its sister brand Trenery were the better-performing brands in the group.
