Global trend expert Milou Ket will share her insights and expertise at a breakfast seminar held by the Textile Institute (TISA) this week.

Amsterdam-based Ket, who has worked in fashion and retail since 1980, is in Melbourne to headline the 2011 Seminar Program at Furnitex Decoration & Design, but will also speak at the TISA event to talk about worldwide trends that will influence fashion into the future.

The information session, from 8am, will take place at the Kangan Institute on Cremorne Street in Richmond on July 20, and will be the first of a line up of events TISA plans for the year, according to a statement by the organisation.

“Embracing the many disciplines comprising the Textile Clothing & Footwear industries, TISA serves to promote the professional advancement of its broad-based members from those involved with raw materials to high fashion products. The TISA Student Design Awards and Showcase, held in mid-October, in particular will be a highlight."

Ket currently works across the globe advising on trends and future themes that embrace colour, structures, style and design, and said she seeks to inspire as she lends support to future product development. She currently also gives guest lectures at several Textile and Art Institutes in Holland and Denmark, has participated in the "Munich Fabric Start" on women's fashion in Germany, and has lectured for ESA in Milan, and at the Surtex in New York. Her previous clients include Kohl's Department Stores (USA), Next (UK), L'Oreal and Revlon.

TSI was established in 1910 and is the chartered professional Institute in textiles, clothing and footwear. The organisation aims to promote the advancement of members' careers and their individual professional growth in all segments of the textiles and clothing industries in Australia, drive to increase membership by meeting member needs and encouraging student membership through the education system.
