The Australian footwear industry has lost an icon, Tony Fazzari, aged 86.

In 1964, Fazzari opened his own factory and shop in Lygon Street, Brunswick and so was born Tony Fazzari Shoes.
For more than 55 years, Fazzari worked seven days a week, rising at 5am and working until 9pm, with the majority of his time spent at his favorite machine, the clicking press.
He was an integral part of the trade right up until health issues ultimately forced him to retire in 2010.
He is survived by his wife Lina, 6 children, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grand daughter, and his daughter-in-laws.
