Global off-price retailer TK Maxx has opened its first Australian flagship store this week, located in the heart of Melbourne CBD.

Located at 235 Bourke Street, the flagship store will be the first two-level TK Maxx in Australia, and will stock a range of brands at smaller prices across women’s, men’s and kids’ apparel, accessories, shoes, beauty, homewares, gifts and other categories.

According to TK Maxx, its Bourke Street flagship is also set to be the retailer’s top store in Australia thanks to its in-demand ‘Gold Find’ products, which are high-end designer brands without the designer price tag.

TK Maxx will open with Gold Finds across women’s and men’s apparel as well as other department categories like footwear and beauty.

“This is a major milestone for TK Maxx as we open the doors to our first Australian flagship store on Melbourne's iconic Bourke Street,” TK Maxx Australia spokesperson Tony Dunseath said. “We're excited to welcome customers, both familiar faces and new ones, into our first two-level store filled with big brands at small prices and plenty of Gold Finds."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place just before the store opened at 9am on Thursday this week. Shoppers also received a free tote bag with every purchase (whilst stocks last).

TK Maxx sources its products through opportunistic buying. The retailer added that its “no-frills” operation means TK Maxx can pass significant savings onto customers.

The average TK Maxx store receives several deliveries per week with thousands of new items arriving on shop floors. TK Maxx is operated by The TJX Companies, Inc., a leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashion in the United States and worldwide.

TJX was first launched in the US in 1976 and now operates 5,000 stores worldwide. TK Maxx first launched in the UK in 1994 and now operates 600 stores across 7 countries – the UK, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands and Australia.

TK Maxx Australia, launched in 2017, now has over 80 stores nationwide.
