Global off-price retailer TK Maxx has confirmed it will open its first Australian flagship on October 16. The store will be located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD at 235 Bourke Street.
The store is located at the eastern end of the Bourke Street Mall. It will be the first two-level TK Maxx in Australia, and will stock a complete range across women’s, men’s and kids’ apparel, accessories, footwear, beauty, homewares, gifts and other similar categories.
TK Maxx Bourke Street will also be the retailer’s top store in Australia for its Gold Find products. According to the retailer, Gold Finds are high-end designer brands without the designer price tag. TK Maxx will open with Gold Finds across women’s and men’s apparel as well as other department categories like footwear and beauty.
“We’re now officially on the countdown to opening the first Australian TK Maxx flagship on Bourke Street, and we couldn’t be more excited,” TK Maxx Australia spokesperson Tony Dunseath said.
“The team are busy helping to ensure this will be our best opening yet, with plenty of Gold Finds and big brands at small prices to discover. We can’t wait to welcome both new and existing shoppers into our biggest store in Australia.”
The flagship opening will add to around 20 existing stores across the Melbourne metropolitan area, and over 80 stores Australia-wide.
TK Maxx is operated by the TJX Companies Inc., which originally launched in the United States in 1976.
The retailer now operates over 600 stores across several countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands and Australia.
The average TK Maxx store reportedly receives several deliveries per week with thousands of new items arriving on shop floors, with opportunistic buying and a “no-frills operation” leading to lower pricing for consumers.
