Ragtrader.com.au offers an exclusive sneak peek of designs to be showcased tonight as part of the Sydney Institute Fashion Design Studio annual end of year parade.
The event will kick off at 6.30pm at the Muse Sydney Institute, Ultimo and will see 28 students from stage three of the Institute’s three-year program present their designs via a 30 minute runway parade.
As part of the end of year parade, stage three students will reveal their 'Ballets Russes' themed evening wear gowns and also, for the first time, their own signature ranges. These collections are the culmination of three years design work and the first opportunity for the students to express their own individual style to a large captive audience.
Tonight will also see student works judged by some of the Australian fashion industry’s most respected designers and media. The judging panel will include designers Fernando Frisoni and Dylan Cooper, journalist and fashion commentators Glynis Traill – Nash and Donny Galella, as well as boutique owner and fashion industry heavy weight Eva Galambos.
Head of the Fashion Design Studio Nicholas Huxley said he was proud of what the students had achieved in their time at the institute.
“What an exciting and inspiring year it’s been. The students of the Fashion Design Studio have excelled…both with their creative juices and their innovative use of colour and textural detailing. Their briefs have given them a plethora of possibilities and they have risen to the challenge brilliantly! It is always such a pleasure to be surrounded by so many talented…and delightful people,” he said.
Students showcasing work at the Sydney Institute Fashion Design Studio end of year parades also have high expectations to live up to, with former graduate students including Nikki Zimmermann, Akira Isogawa, and more recently Dion Lee and Sara Phillips.
All other students – year's one and two – will showcase their work across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
