Thousands of eager shoppers enjoyed a special preview of a new Myer store in Queensland last night.
A stream of Myer one members flowed into the department store, at Caneland Central Shopping Centre in Mackay, ahead of the official opening.
Myer chief executive officer, Bernie Brookes, said Myer Mackay is the only full-line department store in town, and excitement has been building with almost 7,000 people from the region joining the Myer one members program in the lead up to the opening.
“The new store incorporates a full range of merchandise and will provide an inspirational and exciting shopping environment for the local community,” Brookes said.
“I am sure the Mackay community will welcome Myer with the same enthusiasm as Queenslanders have embraced Myer for many years.”
The new two-level store will provide customers with a wide range of international, national and Myer exclusive brands across a variety of categories including women’s and men’s apparel, cosmetics, homewares, intimate apparel, electrical, footwear, small appliances, childrenswear and youth.
More than 100 people have been employed at the Mackay store, which is is 970km north of Brisbane on the east coast of Queensland.
On Saturday Brookes will join Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins to officially open the store.
The day will feature fashion parades showcasing this season’s hottest trends, as well as popular children’s characters, face painting, live music and special in store offers.
