Today, December 03, is International Day of People with a Disability (IDPwD).

IDPwD is a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally, with the aim to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

Throughout 2020, the conversations around adaptive fashion have been furthered, due in part to the broader discourse happening around inclusivity and diversity.

These conversations have been heightened by moves by big name brands such as Tommy Hilfiger launching its adaptive range into Australia, to Brisbane Fashion Month featuring two models with a disability on its runway.

Now, in time for Christmas, StyleAbility has launched its adaptive gift guide.

Featured in the guide, adaptive label Christina Stephens' founder Jessie Sadler (pictured at Brisbane Fashion Month) said that the brand is proud to land a spot in the guide.

"We are delighted to be included in the StyleAbility Adaptive Christmas Gift guide for 2020.

"The range of products included in the guide is testament to the growing demand and interest in quality, innovative and beautiful products that are inclusive and accessible.

"We love the fact that many of the products (like our collection) have been designed with ‘purpose’ and cater to the needs of both people with disability and without.

"We looking forward to releasing our second inclusive collection in 2021 and to continue working with high calibre brands, like StyleAbility and Elba London, to provide for a very underserviced (*yet significant) portion of the fashion market," she said.

*According to data provided by Sadler, 20% of most populations are represented by people with disabilities.

Data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare states that around four million Australians have a disability - approximately 18% of the population.
