RMIT University is the only Australian institute to make the top 10 in the 2015 Business of Fashion’s (BoF) Global Fashion School Rankings.

The postgraduate programs were ranked sixth and the undergraduate programs were ranked ninth.

The rankings were based on BoF analysis of 60 data points collected directly from fashion schools in 11 countries, a survey of more than 4000 fashion students and alumni, as well as a reputational survey of 88 HR professionals and fashion influencers.

Professor Robyn Healy, Head of the School of Fashion and Textiles, said the results were encouraging, particularly with the international fashion industry in the midst of major change.

“We take pride in mentoring a diverse and innovative cohort of global leaders who embody sustainability and the skills to forge original models of practice," she said.

The ranking was based on three major indicators of quality: global influence, learning experience and long-term value.

Both RMIT’s postgraduate and undergraduate fashion and textiles degrees scored particularly well in the learning experience category, encapsulating factors such as student diversity, satisfaction, resources and teaching.

An overall BoF Score was then given to each institution based on weighted performance indicators.
