New-Zealand based discount clothing retailer The Warehouse Group has lost another member of its management team, with independent director Mark Callaghan jumping ship.
Callaghan, who joined The Warehouse Group as a non-executive director in September last year, will officially resign from the company on July 31, before taking up a new role at beverage company Frucor.
Callaghan will begin his new role as New Zealand chief executive of Frucor beverages on August 1, replacing former CEO Carl Bergstrom, who was appointed as Frucor's Group Managing Director last month.
Commenting on Callaghan's resignation, The Warehouse Group Graham Evans thanked Callaghan for his contribution to the company.
“Mark has advised that as a result of his acceptance as CEO for Frucor NZ, he considered it was appropriate to resign from the board of directors of the company , to avoid any potential conflict of interest, as Frucor is a supplier to The Warehouse Group. The board thanks Mark for his contribution to the company and wishes him well.”
As reported on Ragtrader.com.au, Callaghan's resignation is the latest in a string of management shifts at the company, with the company recently appointing Ted van Arkel as an independent director of the company with effect from July 1, 2011.
The Warehouse Group also recently welcomed Mark Powell as new chief executive, replacing Ian Morrice and also saw Graham Evans, a director at The Warehouse Group, move into the role of chairman on May 2, replacing Keith Smith.
The Warehouse Group founder Stephen Tindall also just appointed Robert Tindall to be his alternate director with effect from July 1, 2011.
Callaghan has previously held roles at Cadbury Pty Ltd, Australia and New Zealand, SIFE Australia and The Humour Foundation (Australia), as managing director and director respectively. He is also a previous director of Cadbury's global brand marketing group for confectionery, based in the UK.
