Rivers – the shoe brand retailer that was dragged under when its former overarching company Mosaic Brands went bust – is now selling products once again under its new owners The Shoe Group.
While the business behind Rivers fell into liquidation, Ragtrader understands that the brand’s assets have been acquired by The Shoe Group – a Melbourne-based footwear company. TSG manages the likes of Spendless Shoes, Jo Mercer, Novo Shoes and manages Clarks under license.
A few weeks ago, TSG began stocking Rivers shoes at its other subsidiary Wild Rhino – both in stores and online. Wild Rhino manages 11 retail stores and outlets.
TSG also acquired footwear retailer Wittner from administration, with that brand back in trading, albeit with fewer stores.
Established in 2016, The Shoe Group has since expanded to represent 17 brands and retailers across Australia and New Zealand. The company manages 400 retail stores, more than 2000 employees, and has support offices in Melbourne and Adelaide.
As for Mosaic’s other brands, it is believed the assets for them were bought by new owners as well. The assets of Rockmans – another of Mosaic’s entities – is now under new ownership by a private Australian owner, with the brand’s website in full operation.
The assets of Millers, Katies and Noni B also appear to have been snapped up by the same new owner of Rockmans, with each of these websites not currently selling anything but hosting a landing page that directs visitors to Rockmans and another brand called Femme Connection.
According to ABN records, Femme Connection is owned by Caroline K Morgan, a fashion wholesaler.
