An initiative which aims to turn the fashion industry inside out is gearing for launch.

The fledgling concept, titled Fashion Revolution Day, aims to bring everyone who forms the fashion retail supply chain together to commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic Bangladesh Rana Plaza collapse and change the “fashion future”.

The initiative will push for stakeholders to show their support for better connections and transparency across the fashion supply chain and to empower consumers to be curious about the origins of their clothes.

The call to action, on April 24 2014, is for supporters to wear an item of clothing inside out, to take a picture and then post it on siocial media networks such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, utilising the hashtag #insideout.

Commenting on the launch of the initiative, Fashion Revolution founder Carry Somers said it marks the strat of change for the fashion industry and all its stakeholders.

“Fashion Revolution Day has already gathered incredible momentum on a global scale. We have been inundated with fashion industry leaders, consumers, celebrities, media all wanting to mark the occasion and revolutionise the industry. It represents a really exciting opportunity to reconnect fashion lovers with the people who made their clothes,” she said.

The board of Fashion Revolution Day is composed of over 30 key figures from the fashion industry and beyond: industry leaders; press; campaigners; consultants; representatives from charities and campaign organisations; academics and more. For more information, click here.
