Outdoor clothing brand The North Face has opened a pop-up store in Martin Place, Sydney.
The store opened over the weekend and includes a shop floor that is 120 square metres. The store will offer the brand’s top-selling products, including a mix of insulation, apparel, luggage, day packs and an assortment of footwear.
The North Face’s new pop-up will be surrounded by high-end retailers such as Rolex, Omega, Orlebar Brown, Armani and COS. To mark the opening, there will be a gift with purchase for the first 50 customers, who will receive a tote bag and enamel mug from The North Face.
The Martin Place pop-up store complements the brand’s presence in World Square, Bondi Junction and Chatswood. The North Face manages 13 retail stores across Australia and New Zealand, as well as five outlets, and has over 200 retail partners.
Later this year, The North Face Chatswood will relocate from Westfield to Chatswood Chase. The North Face Homebush in Sydney and The North Face Emporium in Melbourne will also undergo retail expansions.
Brands in the outdoor wear category are being affected by a slow start to winter this year. Sales at KMD Brands retailer Kathmandu were impacted by, with other seasonally affected businesses expected to see similar challenges.
“While the volatility of Kathmandu’s sales performance is frustrating, we acknowledge that unseasonably warm weather in Australia, including Victoria’s warmest Autumn on record, has negatively impacted sales,” KMD Brands CEO and managing director Brent Scrimshaw said.
“Kathmandu’s significant sales improvement, including strong online momentum in recent weeks, reinforces our enduring brand health and strengthens our confidence in the future growth opportunity.”
