Fashion etail giant The Iconic has hired Groupon Australia co-founder Patrick Schmidt as its new CEO.

The etailer, which currently services over three million visitors per month, has appointed Schmidt to take the company to the next level as it looks to increase its market share.

Schmidt, co-founder of Groupon Australia and most recently international vice president of Groupon Latin America, has over 12 years’ experience in the online, retail and marketing sector.

As CEO, The Iconic said Schmidt will initially focus on “exceeding customer expectations through a superior product range, continuous innovation and operational excellence”.

The move will see The Iconic co-founder Adam Jacobs continue in his role as managing director.

Commenting on Schmidt's appointment, Jacobs said the addition of an experienced CEO will complement the existing The Iconic team.

“This is a very exciting time in The Iconic’s history. Just as we are celebrating our second anniversary, we are approaching one million orders being shipped. Bringing on a proven CEO like Patrick now is a real coup,” he said.

Schmidt added that he is “thrilled” to be joining the fastest-growing online fashion retailer in Australia.

The Iconic was founded in late 2011 and currently offers more than 500 brands and over 45,000 products, in addition to free overnight shipping to Australia and New Zealand, 100 day free returns, and three-hour delivery in Sydney.
