Ted Baker Australia has opened up its stores for donations as part of its new partnership with Vinnies.

The retailer is accepting the donation of pre-loved coats in its stores across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA.

The coats be re-sold through Vinnies to support a range of services in the community including soup vans for those experiencing homelessness, crisis accommodation and rental assistance for families who are struggling financially.

In return for their donation, customers will receive a 30% discount on any in-store Ted Baker purchases.

Vinnies retail national chair Kevin Mercer said the partnership with Ted Baker comes at an ideal time.

"We are pleased to be partnering with Ted Baker Australia to help support on-the-ground assistance to people doing it tough.

"With the economic fallout from the pandemic on Australia’s major employment sectors, the end of JobKeeper and cuts to JobSeeker, we are beginning to see increasing numbers of people approaching us for assistance.

"Our local Vinnies shops play a critical financial role in supporting these needs," he said.

The partnership will also help Aussies tackle their fashion waste and raise awareness of clothing recycling.

According to Vinnies, the average Australian purchases 27kg of clothing and disposes of 23kg to landfill each year.

Australian Bureau of Statistics' data indicates that textile waste has the lowest recovery rate of all waste types, with 87.5% going to landfill.

Ted Baker operates six boutiques and two outlets across Australia.

The partnership began on May 01 and will end at the end of the month.
