First Responders Day will take place tomorrow with fashion brands joining over 60 retailers in the initiative, offering discounts ranging from 10% to 30% for eligible first responders.
Target confirmed it has enlisted in this year's campaign, alongside David Jones, Best & Less, Decjuba, Sussan, The Athlete’s Foot and Macpac.
Target GM of stores and supply chain Tim Kemp said there was a strong response from frontline workers in previous years.
“Whether they work in the field daily or respond to emergency situations as needed, front-line workers all share a selfless commitment to serving the community. We are glad to be able to say thank you and give back in a small way through our involvement.”
There are approximately 300,000 first responders in Australia.
Australian Retailers Association CEO Paul Zahra said first responders are grappling with ‘perma-crisis’ environment.
“We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our first responders for helping our communities remain resilient through these intensely challenging times,” Zahra said.
“First Responders Day is the retail industry’s way of showing our appreciation to those who sacrifice so much to keep us all safe and healthy.”
David Jones will offer 10% off full-priced items across fashion, homewares, electrical and beauty, while Target will offer 15% off all in-store purchases. Best & Less will offer a 20% discount storewide, alongside Suzanne Grae, Sportsgirl and Sussan.
