Target Australia has kicked off its first ever Sustainabilty Festival, running until June 9.

The customer-facing initiative will reveal how the department store is working towards more sustainable and responsible sourcing.

The Target Sustainability Festival includes a dedicated micro site, guest speakers and information on the brand's CSR initiatives.

As part of the campaign, Target has published a list of sustainability targets for 2022/2023.

Target confirmed it has already reached its goal of 100% sustainably sourced cotton for Target brand clothing, towels and bedding in May 2022.

In July 2022, it plans to publish the location of all processing factories across those categories.

Target is also on track to responsibly source 100% of wool and cellulose fibres for Target brand clothing, towels and bedding.

In a statement on the initiative, Target said it will continue to commit to sustainability, ethical and community targets as part of its program.

"Sustainability is an incredibly important topic for us and we're always looking for new ways we can all live and work more responsibly and sustainably.

"That means looking at everything: from the way we source our materials, to the way we design our products, and support our teams and the communities we operate in."
