As part of its Mother's Day campaign, Target Australia will donate 600 Mother's Day packs to participants in the Australian Childhood Foundation's (ACF) Bringing Up Great Kids program.

Target's Mother's Day campaign, 'All That She Is', was unveiled in March and is fronted by domestic violence campaigner and 2015 Australian of the Year Rosie Batty.

The campaign builds on the retailer's partnership with the ACF, and has seen it create special fundraising tote bags, with $2 from every sale going towards the ACF's Bringing Up Great Kids program.

Target has a goal to raise $250,000 for the ACF, with $200,000 already raised since the beginning of the partnership in 2021.

Target head of community Kate Thiedeman said when the business was creating the fundraising totes, it deliberately ordered more to create the Mother's Day packs.

"At the time of creating the special ‘All That She Is’ tote bags in support of the Foundation’s Bringing Up Great Kids Program, we ordered some extra bags to specifically share with participants of the program.

"We wanted the women going through the program to be recognised and to know that the entire Target family sees them and supports them," she said.

To pack the care packages – which contain one of the ‘All That she Is’ inscribed tote bags and a selection of beauty products and accessories – Target called on its team members to volunteer their time at the packing day, held yesterday.

More than 40 of the retailer's store support office staff joined in the packing and also wrote personalised messages of support to the recipients.

"The Target team are a big-hearted family and when we called out for help in pulling bags together for the Foundation, the team jumped at the opportunity to help and be involved in something truly special," Thiedeman said.

"To kick start the day, the team also had an opportunity to hear from one of the Australian Childhood Foundation program managers who works to bring healing and safety back to children.

"The Target team feel so very proud of our partnership with the Foundation and are really eager to take part in days such as this where they can roll up their sleeves and really give back and help the work that the ACF do," she said.

In addition to the Melbourne packing day, Target will also host two more packing days later this month – one at Target Alice Springs and Target Castle Hill in New South Wales.

"The entire Target family feels really privileged to be able to work with such a wonderful organisation and take part in these volunteer days to give back to the Foundation and help support women and their children," Thiedeman added.

The funds raised by the sale of the totes in-store go towards enabling the development of a specific adaptation of the Bringing Up Great Kids program that focuses on vulnerable young mums as they build positive and nurturing relationships with their children.
