Austrian jeweller Swarovski and Scandinavian outdoor brand Helly Hansen will open their first-ever outlet stores in New Zealand.

The sites will launch at Auckland Airport’s outlet shopping centre Mānawa Bay.

Helly Hansen currently operates one full-priced store in the country, at Christchurch, as well as three in Australia, all located in the Sydney metropolitan area.

Swarovski operates over 71 stores across Australia and New Zealand, with six currently in New Zealand.

Mānawa Bay will also see global fashion brands Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein anchoring the northern end of the centre, with both stores having a combined area of 1,400 square metres - the size of over three basketball courts.

Other newly announced fashion brands include Converse, Hurley and Lorna Jane, and NZ beauty label Citrine & Co. They are joining the already announced Kate Spade, Coach, PUMA, Fila, Under Armour and Flo & Frankie.

Auckland Airport chief commercial officer Mark Thomson said more than 60 per cent of Mānawa Bay’s net lettable areas are now under either signed heads of terms or agreement to lease. The overall building space is 35,000 square metres.

“It’s an exciting time for this project and the experience this will bring to customers seeking quality outlet shopping in New Zealand,” Thomson said.

“The centre is setting a new benchmark for outlet shopping in New Zealand. It’s creating the ultimate experience for customers and this is proving to resonate with leading retailers, including global fashion houses, athleisure and everyday wear brands.”

Mānawa Bay is expected to open in the second half of next year. When finished, the centre will have 100-plus retail stores set in a figure-of-eight layout.
