Alquemie Group has declined to comment on why Surfstitch’s website has been down for at least a week.
The online retailer’s website currently shows a short message on the landing page, saying the website is undergoing maintenance, and that it will be back online soon.
Surfstitch also posted to its Instagram and Facebook overnight, sharing a similar message – the first posts its made on both platform in six months.
Recent comments in the last week or so have been appearing on the last social media posts six months ago, with some commenters claiming they bought items and have waited weeks and have yet to receive them.
While Alquemie refused to comment, a spokesperson did share that all customer orders have been fulfilled and that there’s no outstanding customer service enquires.
According to documents tabled to ASIC in May 2024, a third party made a Federal Court application to wind up the Surfstitch business. A follow-up document indicates the application was dismissed two months later.
Some commentators across the industry are speculating on whether Surfstitch will cease trading.
Surfstitch was acquired by Ezibuy in 2018 after it fell into voluntary administration. This then formed into Alquemie Group.
