NSW retailers are ringing alarm bells in the weeks leading up to the state election.
State Labor has proposed higher taxes and cuts to infrastructure that many small business feel as though are going to hit home hard.
The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) executive director, Russell Zimmerman, believes that the announcements may have been too hasty.
“Our NSW members appreciate NSW Labor is trying to come up with policies however, the rushed unconsidered announcements we are see being made weeks before the election will only damage small business and retailers in NSW through higher business taxes and less infrastructure being built.”
Zimmerman has called for NSW Labor to reverse their proposal and announce what they will do to help small business grow under a new government.
“We have more happening in NSW since the early two thousands along with better retail sales in NSW than any other State and I would hate to see all of that go by the wayside.”
At this stage, Zimmerman is encouraging retailers and small business owners to vote for the party that will implement lower taxes and development of infrastructure and public transport.
