Australia Post has partnered with logistics start-up Shippit in a bid to streamline postal delivery systems.

The deal will allow Australia Post to utilise delivery management technology developed by Shippit and offer retailers signed with the start up access to a greater distribution network.

Shippit has developed features such as GPS tracking and notifications to reduce the need to pick up missed parcels after work or on Saturday mornings.

Shippit cofounder Robert Hango-Zada said that the partnership heralds major success for the company following its launch last year.

"Shippit was designed to revolutionise the delivery experience for online shoppers.

“With 7 out of 10 online purchases being delivered by Australia Post, this is a terrific opportunity for Shippit’s technology to help reduce friction and provide a better experience for local retailers and their customers.

“The addition of Australia Post means that Shippit now harnesses access to over 11,000 delivery vehicles Australia-wide - making it one of Australia’s largest delivery platforms."

Hango-Zada believes the company's focus on developing technology has allowed Shippit to grow its business rapidly.

"This obviously presents meaningful supply-side validation of our technology. Australia Post see the value in what we have developed and are looking to Shippit to help them provide a better delivery experience to their customers.

“In addition, with the scale of their network and reach of their customer base, this means we can rapidly rollout our beautifully designed delivery technology, touching more parts of the ecommerce industry in a shorter period of time."

Shippit launched in February 2015 and has forged partnerships with retailers such as The Academy Brand.
