Sportsgirl has announced six new faces as part of its 'Be That Girl' movement.

Launched in August 2018, the campaign is pitched as a platform for young women to share their success stories.

The campaign features a series of video interviews with women who have overcome adversity through reinventing their industry or challenging the status quo.

Sportsgirl customers can view the interviews on the retailer's website and learn more about each woman featured.

The new faces are:

  • Macinley Butson, scientist and NSW young Australian of the year

  • Mahalia Handley, diversity advocate

  • Bri Lee, author of 'Egg Shell Skull'

  • Mavournee Hazel, actress and mental health advocate

  • Cindy Wang, second generation Australian and advocate for women's education

  • Gemma Bird Matheson, creator of TV series 'The Housemate' and advocate for diversity in television

Each girl will feature in a series of unscripted and honest mini films that see them answer questions, impart wisdom and lessons learnt along the way.

Each film will focus on one theme that relates to love, life and self, showing the girls in their own way interviewed by Ingrid Kesa.

Sportsgirl CEO Colleen Callander said there has been a positive response to the whole project so far.

“The response to Be That Girl has been overwhelmingly positive.

“We set out to empower the next generation of young Australian women to have confidence in their own identity and to share their journeys with us, their highs and lows as well as lessons learnt along the way.

“It's been so exciting to receive such wonderful feedback from girls around Australia who are sharing their stories, hopes and dreams and we hope the next chapter of Be That Girl, continues to inspire confidence in women, no matter who you are or what you want to be.”
