Specsavers Australia and New Zealand has promoted its head of public relations Cathy Rennie Matos to the newly-created role of head of sustainability.

Her new role will oversee the execution of Specsavers’ sustainability programs across the two markets.

Rennie Matos has been with Specsavers since 2017, and has over 20 years of PR, marketing and corporate social responsibility (CSR) experience from in-house roles at various retailers.

In her previous role as head of PR, Rennie Matos managed the Specsavers Community Program and its partnership with The Fred Hollows Foundation in AU and NZ. She also oversaw the roll out of the region’s glasses recycling program in partnership with Lions Recycle for Sight and the relaunch of the company’s Workplace Giving and Volunteering programs.

Prior to Specsavers, Rennie Matos held a senior marketing and CSR role at electrical goods store The Good Guys. She was also the senior marketing manager at Blockbuster and the group marketing manager at DVD rental retailer ChoicesUK.

Specsavers has a goal to reach net-zero carbon before 2050 and to reduce the environmental impact of its material consumption.
