Mirvac Retail has expanded its COVID-19 'Essentials Express' service to now offer customers home delivery.

Essentials Express was launched April in response to the COVID-19 shutdown, to allow customers to shop from independent retailers, and drive through to pick up their order of everyday goods.

Now, the retail giant has expanded the program to allow customers to have their products delivered to their home.

Essentials Express Home Delivery works through an 'online marketplace' experience where customers can browse through Mirvac's aggregated collection of local retailers, order essentials from multiple centre retailers in one transaction and receive same day delivery direct to their door.

Launching at Moonee Ponds Central (MPC) in Victoria and Orion Springfield Central in Queensland, the service protects the safety of customers and businesses while also supporting local retailers and jobs during the COVID-19 recovery.

Mirvac GM of retail Kelly Miller said that the business plans to roll out the service to other locations.

"Mirvac Retail has been working towards an eCommerce platform for two years.

"By accelerating these plans we’re in a fortunate position to be able to support our retailers, many of whom are small businesses employing the local community, while also delivering essentials to our customers, safely.

"The Essentials Express platform is essentially a start-up program for us to test the viability of a new hybrid retail model which we hope to eventually roll out across other locations via click and collect and home delivery," she said.

Customers can visit the Moonee Ponds Central or Orion Springfield Central websites at any time from anywhere to order products for home delivery.

Customers that order by 12pm receive their products between 3pm and 6pm the same day.
