Jewellery retailer Secrets is set to go global, as demand for diamond simulants grows.
MD Mike Parsell said the brand will launch online in the New Zealand market mid-year.
It opened its first store in Noosa, Queenland in 2000 and was one of the first Australian jewellers to introduce diamond simulant into fine jewellery settings.
Secrets currently operates 16 stores nationwide and an e-commerce portal.
Parsell said demand for the brand is growing.
“Our stones are grown above-the-ground in laboratories, and therefore are more environmentally-friendly and less harmful to the Earth than mining for natural diamonds.
“We do not displace tons and tons of earth to find a single one-carat diamond. Our stones are conflict-free.
“Their creation has not funded civil wars or gravely impacted human rights.
“We also appeal to the ethical consumer and encourage them to spend responsibly while making Earth-friendly consumer choices.”
