Australian womenswear brand Sass & Bide will cease trading temporarily ahead of a relaunch this year.

Myer, which has owned the label since 2011, is closing all stores and concessions. Three boutiques in Claremont, Harbour Town and South Wharf will shut on January 31, while Myer’s 14 concessions and the brand’s website will close on January 26.

A Myer spokesperson told Ragtrader the designer brand will be released back into the market in 2026.

"We believe there’s a unique opportunity to reinvent Sass & Bide by drawing on its substantial heritage while being inspirational and relevant for a new generation of customers.

"It played an important role in the Australian fashion landscape and we know it can do that again given the affection and following Sass & Bide maintains.

"Work has begun to determine on how we will reimagine Sass & Bide and we look forward to sharing plans for the brand’s relaunch in the coming months."

The move is part of a broader plan to overhaul brands across men's, women's and children's fashion.

"We have spent considerable time listening to our customers hearing from them about the brands they like and those they don’t," the spokesperson said. "This feedback is helping shape our strategy to provide customers with a more elevated product offering across our apparel range."

Myer is planning to introduce 20 new brands by the end of July, consisting of a mix of well-known Australian labels and popular international brands including Topshop.

This coincides with the 14 new brands Myer introduced in 2025 such as Lioness and welcoming back JAG and Sportscraft.

Next month, Myer will launch its refreshed portfolio of Myer Exclusive Brands, set to arrive in all stores and online.

The new line‑up brings together five dual‑gender brands - BLAQ, ThereAfter, Basque, Regatta and Grab - each designed with a clear identity, purpose and distinct customer in mind.

"The launches are just the start, with a strong pipeline of new and renowned brands set to join Myer throughout the year," Myer said.

"Each new addition has been carefully selected to complement our existing portfolio and to meet the growing demand for contemporary, high‑quality, and trend‑driven fashion."

Sass & Bide customers will be able to make purchases online up to the end of February. Those with a valid gift card will be eligible to redeem the value for a Myer gift card of the same amount.

Founded by Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton in 1999, Sass & Bide was sold it to Myer for around $70 million.
