Australian designer label has launched its first international show as part of its new Step Into Paradise collection created in collaboration with fellow Australian designer Jenny Kee.

The collection, showcased as part of the Paris Haute Couture schedule, will include an extended product range including dresswear, accessories and even the addition of kimonos as part of the business' “Kinda Couture” project.

The showing places Romance Was Born in a select club of designers to show during Paris fashion week including Ellery, Collette Dinnigan, Paolo Sebastian and Martin Grant.

The designer label attributed the inspiration for the look of the collection to styles designed by Kee as well as a desire to embody the Australian landscape in its design process.

Romance Was Born co-founder Anna Plunkett said the development of the collection was heavily inspired by research and partnerships with collaborators across the globe.

“We pride ourselves on authenticity which is why for 'Kinda couture', it's been so important to combine our findings from recent research trips and works from such vast and radical archives with our heritage and where we come from.”
