Retail Apparel Group is set to expand the Victorian retail footprint of its activewear brand Rockwear.

Following a spike in demand during the pandemic, the brand will open three stores over the next three months, which will take the brand's Victorian store count to six.

The expansion in Melbourne follows Rockwear's bricks-and-mortar expansion in Western Australia, which saw the brand open five stores in two months from March.

Rockwear head of creative Vanessa Spencer said the Victorian market has warmly welcomed the brand.

"It has been an interesting time.

"We saw a huge demand during the first lockdowns and identified an opportunity to expand our store network and boost our physical presence in the state.

"The Victorian market has embraced the brand, hence the decision to continue our store expansion," she said.

Rockwear opened its first three Melbourne stores in the last 12 months at Werribee, Frankston and Fountain Gate.

The new stores will be located at DFO Uni Hill, which will open in August, followed by Karingal Hub in September and DFO Moorabbin in October.

Rockwear was founded in 1991 by two fitness instructors and built a solid customer base in Queensland over the past 30 years.

Throughout 2020 the brand witnessed increased demand across Australia, sparking the mass-store openings.

In addition to the Victorian rollout, Rockwear will expanding nationally throughout the remainder of the year with new stores popping up across NSW, SA, and WA over the next couple of months.
