Australian surfing brand Rip Curl has partnered with Brazilian fashion and lifestyle brand Farm Rio for their first-ever collaboration to launch a new range.
Farm Rio was founded in 1997 by Kátia Barros and Marcello Bastos, and has since scaled to well over 100 stores globally, with the vast majority across Brazil. According to its website, the brand’s ethos is to dress people in happiness through bold prints and styles.
Farm Rio’s newly launched accessories brand, Farm Etc. is also co-signing into the partnership to expand the collaboration beyond apparel into luggage and accessories. The full range will cover apparel, swimwear, wetsuits, luggage and accessories.
“Many attributes could justify the collaboration between Farm Rio and Rip Curl, but the most important of all is passion: two brands built by people who are passionate about their own lifestyles and the products that express them,” Farm Rio brand director Gabriel Oliveira said.
Rip Curl’s head of design, Amy Findlay, added that integrating Farm Rio’s bold artwork into its technical surf products was a highlight of her career.
“We collaborated closely on every element; print scale, placement, construction to ensure the pieces not only look great, but also perform to our standards in the ocean,” Findlay said. “We’re proud of the collection we have created together and hope women around the world feel confident when they wear it in and out of the water.”
The collaboration has just launched and is available through select retail stores and across both brands’ online channels.
