Amazon is preparing to launch its Australian site within 60 days, according to a report in The Australian.
The launch would see it sweep up Christmas and Boxing Day sales, a critical sales period for domestic retailers.
The report is based on a warning issued by Citi retail analyst Brian Raymond.
“Supplier feedback across many categories suggests a pre-Christmas Amazon launch date is likely," Raymond said.
“Launch timing remains uncertain and subject to website and logistics testing, but we would expect a formal launch to occur sometime in October 2017, ahead of Black Friday on 24 November.”
