Struggling small businesses hit hard by Tasmania's natural disasters will be offered advice and support in the form of a $100,000 Natural Disaster Assistance project.

Small Business Minister and Labor Senator for Tasmania, Nick Sherry has announced services will be offered to small businesses in Tasmania in the Scottsdale, Branxholm, Winnaleah, Ledgerwood, Ringarooma, Gladstone, Bridport and Derby regions.

The $100,000 North East Tasmania Small Business Advisory Service Natural Disaster Assistance project is set to provide much needed relief to small businesses who were affected by the floods.

“This project will help those small businesses still affected by the recent natural disasters, advising on how to best meet the challenges to their businesses,” Senator Sherry said.

The project will offer industry specialist advisory services and one-on-one mentoring to affected businesses.

Member for Bass, Minister Geoff Lyons said the scheme was a welcome relief to struggling businesses still picking up the pieces from the floods.

“I am pleased that the Federal Government has been able to support the people of the North East during this difficult time,” Mr Lyons said.

“This service will focus on improving the knowledge and business skills of small business operators with specific, tailored and in-depth advice.”
