Designer Therese Rawsthorne has launched her first ever retail flagship in Sydney via a two-month residency in Surry Hills.
The “Twin Peaks” pop-up boutique, located on Crown Street, will be open until November 17 and will sell the designer's eponymous label, including the latest spring/summer collection “Falling”. The store will also showcase Rawsthorne's more relaxed sister label, Therese Rawsthorne Ensemble, in its entirety and the mainline collection, all styles. Prices start at $220.
Rawsthorne has designed the store concept, which includes stacked raw cement bricks, splintered wooden rod clothing racks, wild orchids and stag ferns mounting the makeshift racks, to represent the “wild, lush and dark nature of Twin Peaks”.
Rawsthorne said the store opening was an important step for the label, in order to connect directly with its customers.
“This is our only retail space, and our first, [but] the space became available, so it was an opportunity we couldn't give up. We really love the area, and wanted to have a chance to meet our clientele directly,” she said.
Rawsthorne also revealed her next collection – for autumn/winter – will see the denim range in the Therese Rawsthorne Ensemble collection extended.
“It is exciting,” she said. “We also worked on a collaboration with Melbourne based artist Justin Lee Williams who helped create our print for the mainline collection.”
Shop opening hours for the Therese Rawsthorne “Twin Peaks” pop-up boutique are between 11am and 6pm Tuesday-Saturday and midday-5pm on Sundays.
