Dion Lee took to the runway this morning, opening the fourth day of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week with a collection rich in architectural structuring.

The Dion Lee spring/summer range includes a new shirting line with key colours of black, white and grey are broken up by garments in emerald green, aqua, pale blue, apricot and blush pink. The designer also dabbled in prints this season, including a 3D “illusionist” patten and an ivory print.

White Suede and Yeojin Bae will show later in the morning, at 10 and 11am respectively, followed by 'The Innovators' catwalk parade at RAFW which will showcase designs by TAFE Fashion Design Studio graduates, including Anna Wescott, Charlotte O'Carrigan, Emma Mullholland and Leah Hibbert.

Ellery will show at 1pm, followed by Lisa Blue, with a collection of swimwear and beachwear made up of one pieces, bikinis with a wide range of cuts and styles, bikini tops for bigger busts and a collection of silk and cotton kaftans, beach skirts and dresses.

“The Lisa Blue collection to be shown at RAFW 2011 encompasses several stories which are all quite different, from the edgy Galactic theme which is contrasted by an Aboriginal art print, a signature part of the label,” designer Lisa Burke said.

“Last season’s Renaissance art print was incredibly popular, so we’ve taken this response from the last range and created a new season story with works from the Romantic Era. Bolliwood also has been interpreted in a story with the colourful Goddess Lakshmir and a feminine lotus flower print.”

Perth-based swimwear label Kooey hits the rinway at 3.30pm with a range inspired by the central Australian desert around Alice Springs. A collection of approximately 35 pieces including some resortwear, features prints from indigenous artist Anne Hanning feayure and striking shades of orange, red, purple, black and blue, derived from the desert scene.

“This collection is taking a stronger line in terms of colours and cuts while our previous Ningaloo collection was slightly more feminine with use of a lot of frills and softer colours,” designer Nikki Silverthorne said.

Other designers showing today include Limedrop at 4.30pm, the Ready To Wear group, including Antonia Paris and Luela at 5.30pm and Stolen Girlfriends Club at 6.30pm.

Alistair Trung and Josh Goot will finish the fourth day of RAFW, with showings at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively.

Designer Alistair Trung describes the overall look of his spring/summer collection as “tribal urban zen goes sporty”, and has crafted the pieces from fabrics hand-made by artisans from Asia and Africa, such as mud and vegetable-dyed silks, linen gauze, Japanese cotton voile and oragandy, to add a rich, earthy and luxurious touch to the range.

“It is the hybridisation of majestic and urban influences with an emphasis also on mixing masculine and feminine influences, couture lines and fabrications against sporty influences,” Trung said.
