Homegrown outfitter R.M.Williams will be outfitting the Australian Commonwealth Games Team for Glasgow 2026.
The news extends a partnership that began at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and continued through Birmingham 2022. It also follows past outfitting deals by the Australian brand, including for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The brand will design ceremonial wear for the opening and closing ceremonies and other formal events for the Commonwealth Games in 2026.
According to R.M.Williams, the offering will include a tailored range for both men and women, featuring limited-edition leather Craftsman boots handcrafted in Adelaide.
The range will draw on hues of Australia’s famed green and gold colour palette and the Unity symbol that features in Commonwealth Games Australia’s reconciliation artwork.
Originally designed by Indigenous artist Jenna Lee for Gold Coast 2018, the Unity symbol has previously featured in the formal uniforms for the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games.
“It’s an honour to continue our partnership with Commonwealth Games Australia and support the next generation of Australia’s star athletes,” R.M.Williams CEO Paul Grosmann said. “We’re weaving our legacy of courage and determination into every piece in this kit, and look forward to seeing the athletes step out onto the global stage in uniforms they can feel proud of.”
Australian Team Chef de Mission Petria Thomas OAM OLY said the Team will take great pride in wearing the capsule range designed by R.M.Williams as they introduce themselves to the billions of people of the Commonwealth at the Opening Ceremony.
“R.M.Williams is an iconic Australian brand, and the Australian Commonwealth Games Team will bring our own iconic fighting spirit to the field of play at Glasgow 2026,” Thomas said.
“Our collaboration with R.M.Williams at the past two Games has been a highlight, and I’m confident the Team will celebrate the opportunity to showcase the range on the global stage at Glasgow 2026.
“The Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games is a defining moment for athletes, made more special by the opportunity to march in well-crafted formal wear that they look and feel good in.”
Commonwealth Games Australia CEO Craig Phillips AM also welcomed the continued collaboration with R.M.Williams, marking the third collaboration between the two organisations. He said R.M.Williams is a quintessential Australian brand.
“R.M.Williams also delivers ceremonial uniforms for the Australian Paralympic Team, decking out athletes and officials as part of a long-term partnership, which has most recently included the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” Phillips said. “In a further commitment to Australia’s sporting landscape, the brand is also partnered with Rugby Australia and supports other local teams across the nation.”
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
