Quiksilver has opened its second flagship Boardriders concept store in Torquay.
It is business as usual for the surfwear brand in Australia, despite the bankruptcy of its US-listed parent Quiksilver Inc.
The latest Boardriders store was officially opened on September 17.
The unique retail model showcases Quiksilver’s core brands including Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes, reconnecting the company with its key board rider market.
Located within the surf-shopping precinct ‘Surf City Plaza’, the new multi-level surf store is one of the largest in Torquay, offering over 1000sqm of unique retail space.
The store aims to be somewhere for the local community to gather and be apart of Torquay’s authentic surf lifestyle.
Torquay also holds a particular significance for Quiksilver, as the birthplace of the brand (dating back to 1969), as well as a historical relevance to the Australian and global surfing community.
The first Australian Quiksilver Boardriders store opened in February this year in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast.
The company said the innovative retail approach has been a huge success, and has so far exceeded all expectations.
Boardriders Torquay features:
• Over 400 surfboards, including a 40 board carousel, 200 skateboards and snowboards
• Friday Surf Industry Night- with live music from 6PM
• Weekly yoga classes
• Free Wi-Fi throughout the store
• Barbershop
• The only rooftop Bar & Café in Torquay, with ocean views
• Live streaming of major events on the big screen, such as Quiksilver Pro and surf movie launches
