Pumpkin Patch has announced former Telecom, ASB Bank and Bank Direct executive, Jane Freeman, as its new chairperson.

Freeman has been a director of Pumpkin Patch since 2004, is a member of the Pumpkin Patch audit and risk management committee and has also chaired the company's remuneration and nomination committee.

In addition to her work with the childrenswear retailer and wholesaler, Freeman is also a current director of Air New Zealand and wine producer, the Delegat's Group.

Freeman has been acting chairperson of Pumpkin Patch since the resignation of former chairperson Greg Muir in November 2010. Muir resigned as a result of his involvement with collapsed company Hannover Finance which he said was “drawing attention away” from Pumpkin Patch.

Hanover Finance collapsed in 2008 owing approximately $500 million to investors. Muir was a former chairperson of the company.

Pumpkin Patch currently operates 128 stores in Australia, 52 stores in New Zealand, 42 stores in the UK and 2 stores in Ireland. Brands in its stable include Pumpkin Patch, Charlie & Me and Urban Angel.
