A fresh initiative to help safeguard the fashion designers of the future has secured some high profile supporters as it prepares to take its first steps next month.
The Australian Graduates Fashion Week (AGFW), set for launch on November 24, is Sydney’s newest fashion event focused on 'up-and-comers' of the fashion industry and aims to provide a platform for graduates of fashion schools, from TAFE, universities, college and other institutions, to showcase their creations.
To date, the event is set to showcase 100 students from both Australia and New Zealand over two days at the iconic CarriageWorks venue, and has also secured strong industry support from the likes of veteran designer Nicola Finetti, Adelaide couturier Paolo Sebastian, Phoenix Keating, international fashion photographers Elvis Di Fazio and Peter Coulson, and Cielo Magazine editor Dimitri Frost.
The industry panel will judge the graduate parade, with the winner set to receive 10,000 dollars to kick start their career along with other major prizes.
With the event still in its formative stages, the spotlight will be on Sydney until further notice, for graduating students across Australia and New Zealand, who have graduated between 2011 and 2012 able to showcase.
