Australian pearl jeweller Paspaley has unveiled a new boutique in Adelaide, marking the first time the brand has opened a store in South Australia.
The new boutique is situated in the exclusive new luxury wing of Burnside Village, a shopping centre located just outside of Adelaide CBD, and which has been of prime interest among fashion brands over the last year.
LSKD, Viktoria & Woods, Ralph Lauren, Simone Pérèle, Universal Store, OPSM, Sunglass Hut, Camilla, July and Uniqlo have all opened new or revamped stores in the centre this year alone, with Louis Vuitton opening a pop-up in the centre in late 2024.
The luxury jeweller’s new store covers 250 square metres and continues a 15-year relationship between Paspaley, American-born architect Eric Carlson and his Paris-based studio, Carbondale. They have previously collaborated on Paspaley’s Sydney Castlereagh Street, Brisbane, Collins Street and Crown Melbourne boutiques.
“With deep reverence for a legacy that spans over 90 years, Paspaley is honoured to unveil its first boutique in Adelaide – a new chapter in our enduring story of pearling adventure,” group executive director James Paspaley said.
“This space is intended to be more than a boutique; it is a sanctuary of beauty and craftsmanship, conceived to reflect the soul of Australia’s North West, where our journey began and continues.”
Paspaley was born in the Kimberley region and has grown into a leading producer of Australian South Sea pearls.
The brand has 11 stores across Australia, including the new Adelaide boutique.
The group executive director said every detail in its new store is inspired by the Kimberley region.
“Each element is a quiet homage to the world from which our pearls are born. We invite our clients not merely to shop, but to step into a world shaped by nature, heritage and artistry.”
The store’s elements include blue marble flooring, striated travertine counters and supporting plinths.
Central to the boutique is ‘Strands Cove’, which showcases Paspaley’s signature pearl strands and high jewellery creations. This space features walls wrapped in marquetry with pearlescent lacquer and circle motifs that have been crafted with mother-of-pearl carved from Pinctada maxima pearl oyster shells.
The boutique also includes a digital portrait wall that shares the stories of the Paspaley family and the brand’s heritage, as well as a VIP lounge and the brand’s first-ever bridal space.
