Global pop icon Taylor Swift has adorned a Paolo Sebastian dress in her new music video released this week.
The dress comes from the Adelaide designer label’s 2024-25 autumn/winter collection titled ‘A Lover’s Kiss’. It is an exposed corset cage gown with hand-beaded paillette and crystal work, which includes a bejewelled garnet heart pierced by an arrow. The full range covers 12 styles.
Swift wore the dress in a scene halfway through her brand new single ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, a lead track from her latest studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. It was a staged theatre scene where Swift stands at the bow of a ship. The scene closes with Swift elegantly falling into the water.
“It’s incredible,” Paolo Sebastian creative director and designer Paul Vasileff said after first glimpsing his design on Taylor Swift.
“The dress, and the entire collection from A Lover’s Kiss, was inspired by the great love stories of old – a tribute to the captivating power of true love. To see Taylor Swift wearing our gown while she sings about her own love story is an unforgettable moment for Paolo Sebastian.”
Since the music video was officially launched earlier this week, the music video has been viewed more than 19 million times. This is projected to grow further.
“We have deep admiration for Taylor and the art she brings to the world,” Vasileff added. “She’s a powerhouse storyteller – and at Paolo Sebastian storytelling is at the heart of every collection.”
“It’s an honour to see a piece of our artistry woven into her own.”
