Australian fashion designer Tabatha Brixton has launched Allora Capes, a boutique range manufactured in Melbourne.
Brixton decided to start the label after she was made redundant following a restructure at Pacific Brands.
The venture follows more than a decade in the industry, including with classic brands like Polo Ralph Lauren.
“I now juggle running my business with being a mother to a busy toddler," she said.
"I love the flexibility of working on my own label and the rewards are amazing."
The double breasted capes feature a high-standing collar, tailored shoulders and side slits for movement.
“It was incredibly important to me to have my capes made in Melbourne," she said.
"There are talented makers still operating in Melbourne.
"So many people suggested to me to go offshore, however I know there is still a customer who appreciates Australian made and is prepared to pay a little bit more for it."
The capes retail for $425 and are offered in black, light charcoal and camel.
Sizes range from 8 to 14 with one children's cape design in the line.
Due to customer requests, Brixton has also started making custom 100% cashmere capes.
