Big W has issued its first statement on the direction of the business following the appointment of ex-Oroton executive Ana Maria Escobar as general manager creative (design, marketing and online).
A Big W spokeswoman said that the retailer is now reviewing the business across all categories to improve product moving forward.
“Big W is currently on a journey to give our customers better access to great value products and exceptional service.
“Each part of the business is currently under review so we can deliver a superior shopping experience.
“Changes have been made to position Big W as a product-led company and as a result many creative and brand functions have been brought in-house to rejuvenate our 52-year-old discount department store brand.
“Further enhancements will be made in the coming months, with announcements in due course.”
Escobar joined the company in February following her departure from luxury accessories brand Oroton.
Fellow former Oroton executive Sally Macdonald was appointed to the role of CEO in December last year.
