Retail executive Peter Halkett is set to take on the reins of the luxury Oroton business after a short six-month stint at designer label Rebecca Vallance.

Halkett confirmed the news in a LinkedIn post, saying he will begin his new CEO role from June 16.

Prior to his last role at Rebecca Vallance, Halkett has been the CEO of Brandbank Group, New Zealand brand Moochi, APG & Co and Kathmandu.

He began his career in the 1970s and 80s as a regional manager at Farmers Trading Company, a mid-market department store chain in New Zealand.

"I am honoured to join Oroton at such a pivotal moment in its evolution," Halkett said. “As a renowned Australian brand with a rich legacy and exceptional potential, Oroton is uniquely positioned for continued success. I am looking forward to collaborating with the skilled Oroton team to further strengthen the brand and spearhead its next successful chapter."

Halkett will take over the reins from Jenny Child, who stepped down from the lead role in May after more than three-and-a-half years. She will remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Will Vicars, owner of Oroton Group, said he and the team have ambitious plans for Oroton’s future.

"As a respected figure in the industry, Peter’s experience and vision make him the ideal appointment to drive Oroton's continued positive momentum," Vicars said.

He also extended praise to Child for her outstanding leadership and the results she delivered. "Her tenure saw sustained profitable growth and the strengthening of Oroton’s executive and creative teams.”
