The Billabong empire is expanding.
Billabong-owned surfwear brand Surf Dive 'n' Ski (SDS) has this week launched its 35th store nationally, with plans to expand further throughout the nation in the coming months.
The latest store opening, at the Melbourne Emporium, follows another recent store launch at Queensland's Indooroopilly precinct, with the next store planned for Kawana, also in Queensland.
Previously owned by the General Pants Group, before its acquisition by Billabong, SDS said the competition posed by the close proximity of international brands, such as Zara and H&M, in Melbourne, doesn't phase them.
“In the face of international brands arriving on our shores, this iconic Australian retailer sees this as an incredible opportunity to sit alongside some of the world’s best.”
The brand, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary in business this year, has also flagged ongoing plans to continue to bolster its retail network, with more stores set to launch in Australia over the next year.
The Surf Dive ‘n Ski Emporium store will stock premium surfwear and fashion pieces from brands such as Billabong, Element, Nixon, RVCA, Tigerlily and many more.
